Dr. Heino Fassbender
Since January 2003, Heino Fassbender has been a member of the
McKinsey Advisory Council. Before, he was a Director (senior partner)
in the Frankfurt Office of McKinsey & Company, Inc., and coleader
of the Firm‘s Banking Practice in Germany and Europe.
Since joining McKinsey in 1978, Mr. Fassbender has mainly worked
for financial services institutions. He has also served clients in
retailing, professional services and non-profit organizations. His experience
covers the entire range of management issues, e.g., corporate
strategies, product market and channel strategies, organization
structures and information systems.
In addition to his client activities, he has been the responsible European
leader in the McKinsey Global Institute, the Firm‘s economic
think tank. He currently focuses on knowledge development projects,
e.g., „perspektive-deutschland“, Europe‘s largest online survey
addressing socio-political issues.
Mr. Fassbender studied business administration and economics at
the universities of Bonn, Cologne, and Harvard. His research activities
focused on monetary macroeconomics and later on political economy.
Before joining McKinsey, he worked as the Manager of the
Institut für das Spar-, Giro- und Kreditwesen in Bonn and as a consultant
for Abt Associates in Cambridge, Mass. (consulting company
for Government Offices).
